Underfloor Heating

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating (UFH) delivers gentle, even warmth from the ground up – no cold spots, no bulky radiators, just comfortable rooms and more usable wall space. Whether you choose warm-water (hydronic) or electric systems, we design, supply and install underfloor heating that’s tailored to your subfloor, room layout and floor covering.

Efficient Underfloor Heating (UFH):

From kitchens and open-plan living to lofts and garden rooms, we specify the right UFH solution for engineered wood, LVT/Amtico, vinyl and tile – and prepare the subfloor properly so your system runs efficiently for years.

Covering South East London:

We design, supply and install underfloor heating across South East London, including Petts Wood, Bromley, Beckenham, Chislehurst, Orpington, West Wickham, Dulwich, Greenwich, Sidcup and Blackheath. If you’re nearby, we’ll arrange a free home/site visit and a clear, itemised quote.

Underfloor Heating - TB Elliott Flooring

“Underfloor heating demands precision, patience and technical know-how - all part of our DNA. At TB Elliott Flooring, we design and install UFH systems that balance comfort, efficiency and craftsmanship. From moisture management and insulation to perfect levelling and commissioning, our fitter-led team ensures heat flows evenly and safely beneath your chosen flooring. We don’t just install warmth - we engineer it to last.”

Underfloor Heating (UFH) - Professional Efficiency

UFH heats large surface areas at lower temperatures, giving cosy, even warmth and excellent energy efficiency – especially in well-insulated homes. At TB Elliott Flooring, we combine technical design with old-school fitting standards: precise prep, correct materials and careful commissioning that protects your investment.

We assess insulation levels, floor build-up height, moisture, and chosen floor finish, then recommend hydronic vs. electric with the right pipe spacing or mat wattage. You get a clear, itemised plan – not sales talk – for performance, controls and timelines.

Efficiency starts beneath the surface. We install insulation boards, primers, acoustic layers (if required), and smoothing/levelling compounds or screeds to encapsulate pipes/cables. Proper prep ensures even heat transfer and a perfectly flat base for your new floor.

We design multi-zone systems so each area runs at the right temperature and schedule. From simple digital stats to app-controlled smart thermostats, you’ll have intuitive control that saves energy without sacrificing comfort.

Different floors need different approaches. We specify engineered wood thicknesses, UFH-compatible adhesives for LVT/vinyl, and expansion allowances and movement joints where required – so finishes stay stable and look great long term.

We pressure-test water loops, verify electrics, and follow heat-up/commissioning protocols (especially after screeding/levelling). You’ll receive a simple handover pack covering warm-up schedules, cleaning tips and seasonal settings – plus we’re on hand if you need us.

Underfloor Heating FAQs

Thinking about underfloor heating? Here are the questions we’re asked most – answered by our fitters.

Warm-water (hydronic) is ideal for whole-home or large spaces and pairs well with efficient heat sources (e.g., low-temperature systems). Electric is thinner, faster to install and great for single rooms, bathrooms and retrofits. We’ll recommend the best fit after survey.

Yes – we install UFH under engineered wood, LVT/Amtico, vinyl and tile regularly. We follow manufacturer limits for surface temperatures, use compatible adhesives/levellers, and allow for movement so your finish stays stable.

Often, yes. Pipes and cables must be fully encapsulated with screed or smoothing compound for even heat and a flat surface. Where moisture is present, we add a surface DPM and the right primers for long-term stability.

UFH runs at lower flow temperatures and heats evenly, reducing cycling and improving comfort. With smart zoning and good insulation, many homes see improved efficiency and lower bills. We design your system to suit your property’s heat-loss profile.

It depends on product and thickness. Rapid systems can be ready within days; others need longer. We moisture-test and follow commissioning/heat-up protocols before laying the final floor – protecting your warranty and finish.
