Wool Carpets - Resilience & Warmth

Wool carpets combine comfort, durability and natural performance like no other fibre. At TB Elliott Flooring, our fitter-led process keeps everything simple – we visit, advise, measure, supply and install with meticulous attention to detail.

We assess how you use each room, check subfloors and run through choices: 100% wool vs. 80/20 blend, pile type (twist, loop, velvet), weight, tog rating and underlay. No showroom patter – just practical guidance that works in real homes.

Dense twists for high-traffic stairs and landings, soft saxony/velvet for bedrooms, textured loops for contemporary lounges – we match construction and weight to usage. We also advise on moth-resistant options and pet-friendly choices.

A flawless finish starts beneath the surface. We can uplift and responsibly dispose of old flooring, repair or smooth subfloors, fit high-quality underlay for comfort and insulation, and finish with the right grippers, door bars and thresholds.

Most of our installers are personally trained by Trevor Elliott, DBS-checked and NVQ Level 2 qualified. Expect tight, ripple-free stretching, sharp stair turns and neat seaming – with on-tool dust extraction and a tidy workspace each day.

We’ll explain wool-safe cleaning, vacuum settings for each pile, dealing with spills quickly, and when to book a professional clean. You’ll leave with clear routines to keep your wool carpet fresh, resilient and beautiful for years.

Wool Carpets FAQs

Considering a wool carpet? Here are answers to the questions we’re asked most often.

100% wool offers the most natural feel, great insulation and superb resilience. 80/20 blends add a little synthetic fibre for added wear resistance and value, making them excellent for busy homes. We’ll recommend the best option for each room.

Wool has natural stain resistance and good soil-hiding, but spills should be treated promptly. Use a wool-safe cleaner and blot (don’t rub). For maximum practicality in family spaces, a wool-blend can be a great choice.

Yes – choose a dense twist or woven construction with the correct weight and we’ll fit it tightly for long-term performance. Wool’s bounce-back helps it keep its shape in high-traffic areas.

Some light shedding is normal at first as short fibres release – regular vacuuming settles this quickly. Quality underlay and correct vacuum settings help maintain the pile’s appearance.

In some homes it’s sensible. Many wool ranges include moth-resistant treatments; we’ll advise based on your area and storage habits. Simple housekeeping – regular vacuuming (including edges) – also helps prevent issues.
