Cut Pile Carpets - Cosy, Smart & Durable

Cut pile carpets balance comfort, style and practicality. At TB Elliott Flooring, our fitter-led process keeps everything simple – we visit, advise, supply and install with meticulous care, so your carpet looks superb and wears well.

We measure up, assess your subfloors and discuss how you use each room. You’ll get clear, practical recommendations on fibre (wool vs. polypropylene), pile type (twist, saxony, velvet), and the right underlay – no sales patter, just what works best in real homes.

Twist for busy halls and stairs, saxony for plush bedroom comfort, and velvet for a sleek, formal look – we match pile height and density to traffic and lifestyle. We bring samples so you can see colours and textures in your own lighting.

A great carpet needs a great base. We can uplift and responsibly dispose of old flooring, repair or smooth subfloors, and fit quality underlay to enhance comfort, insulation and lifespan – with the correct grippers and door bars for a crisp finish.

Most of our installers are personally trained by Trevor Elliott, DBS-checked and NVQ Level 2 qualified. Expect tight, ripple-free stretching, sharp stair turns, neat thresholds and daily tidy-downs with on-tool dust extraction.

We’ll explain vacuum settings for different piles, spot-cleaning for wool and man-made fibres, and when to plan professional cleans. You’ll leave with simple routines to keep your carpet fresh and beautiful for longer.

Cut Pile Carpets FAQs

Choosing a cut pile carpet? Here are the answers to the questions we’re asked most often.

All are cut pile styles. Twist uses tightly twisted fibres for a textured, versatile look that hides footprints well. Saxony has a deeper, plush pile for hotel-style softness. Velvet/velour is shorter and very smooth for a sleek, formal finish.

Wool (or wool-rich blends) feels natural, insulates well and ages beautifully. Polypropylene offers excellent stain resistance, great value and is often bleach-cleanable (follow manufacturer guidance). We’ll recommend by room and usage.

Plusher piles like saxony and velvet can show tracking and vacuum marks – part of their luxurious look. Heathers, mid-tones and twist constructions reduce the appearance. We’ll help you balance softness with practicality.

Yes – choose the correct pile height and density. Twist pile is usually ideal for high traffic; dense saxony can work on stairs when specified correctly. We’ll advise and fit with tight, safe stair detailing.

We strongly recommend it. Fresh, high-quality underlay boosts comfort, improves insulation and helps carpets last longer. We’ll match density and tog rating to your subfloor and any underfloor heating.
